A Historic Island Home Since 1915
The Home Place Inn has been a loved landmark in Kensington since 1915. Built by local merchant Parmenas Orr, the home still shows the craftsmanship and warmth of early twentieth century Prince Edward Island with its wide verandah, hardwood floors, and detailed woodwork.
The Orr family filled the house with heirlooms and artwork, many of which remain today. Guests often enjoy the antique furnishings, vintage portraits, and the mural of the brig Fanny in John Wilfred's room, the ship an Orr ancestor sailed to California in 1849. Every room carries a quiet touch of history.
Over time, the family home became the welcoming inn it is today. Modern comforts have been added with care so the original spirit, charm, and character of The Home Place remain fully alive.

A New Chapter and a Warm Welcome from Andrew and Beth Hambly
In May 2025, The Home Place Inn began an exciting new chapter when it was purchased by Andrew and Beth Hambly. They were drawn to the beauty and history of the property and felt an instant connection to the home and the community it serves.
Beth and Andrew offer a friendly and down to earth style of hospitality that focuses on making guests feel genuinely welcomed and cared for. Whether it is a fresh home cooked breakfast, a quiet chat on the verandah, or thoughtful suggestions for places to eat and things to do, they take pride in ensuring every stay feels personal.
Their goal is simple. They want to preserve the history of The Home Place while offering comfort, ease, and a warm sense of home for every traveler.
