We wish to extend a warm and cordial Island welcome.

Whether you are visiting us for business or pleasure we know you will enjoy your experience. We hope it will bring back memories of your “home place”.

This historic home was built in 1915 by local merchant Parmenas Orr and retains much of the original ambiance through thoughtful renovations, hardwood floors and period furnishings. Many of the family’s original furnishings, antiques, photographs and oil paintings, painted by Orr family descendants, hang proudly on our walls. A large verandah on the front of the house is available for “old fashion” relaxing.

In 1849, John Orr set sail from Charlottetown Harbour on board the Brig Fanny to seek his fortune in the California gold fields. His interesting account of the voyage is on display in the lounge, and a mural of the Brig Fanny graces the wall in John Wilfred’s room..

The Home Place has preserved the rich history of the Orr family and we cordially invite you to share this history and experience our comfortable home. We treat our guests as we like to be treated.

We are pleased to advise we are now wheel chair accessible.

PLEASE NOTE: Starting August 11, 2023, the house is being painted. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but we are excited to finally get it done!
