Our Restaurant
Restaurant Fall Hours: Open every evening 5pm-close This inn and restaurant, remembered by many as the “Orr” house, was built in 1915 for Parmenus Orr. The family of four girls raised in this home were all successful in life and used their talents to benefit the community. A collection of paintings by Elsie Orr Laird hang throughout The Home Place. Afternoon tea for friends was often enjoyed in the Orr home and good food and fine china was plentiful.
Only the crew of the “Fanny”, three passengers, and the forty members of the company were able to make the voyage but many other Islanders dreamed of going and envied those who did. One man expressed it thus (Islander, Oct. 5,1949) Oh! how I’d love the Fanny’s deck to tred Our licenced restaurant provides only the highest quality food and service and offers a dining area which seats approximately 45 people. Enjoy home cooking at its best. The aroma of fresh made rolls is just the beginning to your dining experience. Not to be missed are our Pan-fried Malpeque Oysters. Scrumptious desserts are always fresh, and made on the premise. You’re also invited to dine on our outdoor patio, available seasonally, weather permitting. It’s a magnificent way to enjoy the summer sun or the evening stars while you savour selections from our menu.

The wall mural in the main dining room depicts the voyage of the brig “Fanny” which sailed from Charlottetown to the gold fields in California on November 12th, 1849. Parmenus’ father, John Orr was inspired by the lure of gold and so sailed as a shipwright (carpenter).
Great food and atmosphere, certainly. Attentive service, naturally. A definite "must do" while staying at the Home Place. We regularly accommodate those with special diets or food allergies.
